Research has shown that much of the information and skills that we are imparting to our students is superfluous and unnecessary and cannot be applied to the experience of our digital and modern society. This mismatch between our education system and today's world means that we are not preparing our students for the environment in which they find themselves. In fact, today's society demands a new form of cooperative learning where knowledge can be shaped towards the social reality. Many people cite 21st Century Skills as the solution to these problems, but what exactly are these skills and how can we foster them? This session will address these issues and look at ways that we can nurture our students, encouraging them to succeed in a world that is constantly evolving.
