Reading Express is one of the TELA projects which has been granted by Ministry of
Education since 2009. By increasing students’ access to various types of simplified
readers, the project aims to enhance students’ reading ability through extensive
reading and further to help them achieve reading autonomy. Currently, 103 titles
of simplified readers from different publishers are collected in the library for
students at all levels, from beginners to advanced learners. In addition, activities
such as “Meet readers” and “I-Read” are held regularly by Language Center to encourage
collaborative and self-directed reading. Reading Express website not only provides
plentiful information of each simplified reader for both students and teachers,
but also serves as a good platform for feedback sharing. The ultimate goal of Reading
Express is to cultivate students’ lifelong reading habits and further to make them
more global competitive.
